What is Kiwanis?
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
About Olympic Kiwanis Club
Our club was an offspring of the much older Port Angeles (Noon Club) and was chartered in 1975. The intent was to start a morning club for those who could not attend noon meetings thus we are known as the "morning" Kiwanis Club. We meet at 7 a.m. every Thursday morning at the Port Angeles Food Bank in Port Angeles, Washington.
Kiwanis is a service organization dedicated to "serving the children of the world" and our ongoing service projects reflect this. To just name a few, currently we are involved in the annual Kids Fishing Derby, Camp Beausite Northwest for developmentally disabled youth and adults, Downtown Port Angeles Halloween, the annual Tuna Challenge to support our local Food Banks along with co-sponsoring the Port Angeles High School Key Club. In addition, we award an annual High School scholarship.
When not serving we also do some fund raising. Our major fundraiser is putting up (and taking down) the downtown holiday lights. We also supervise the parking for the KONP Home Show and sell Sees Candies during major holidays.
This has been just a very brief summary of some of the things we do. We are always in need of new ideas and helping hands and welcome community input.
